Low lying areas of the Tumut region, drenched with rain overnight, are today inundated with water.

The Gilmore Creek has flooded and residents at Willow Bend are beginning to see their back yards fill with water, while the low-lying areas of the Myers’ and adjoining properties to the west of the Tumut township are covered with water, forcing stock to higher ground.

Local SES crews are out inspecting areas known to have flooded in 2010 and 2012.

Bureau recorder Graham Garnett said Tumut had 37.5mm of rain overnight, with 56.5mm of rain falling in the past two days.
