The Lanterns on the Lagoon Committee has extended the deadline for artist submissions until September 15.
The event will be held one week later on Saturday, September 23, at Pioneer Park, and Publicity Officer Pamela Oppelt said it could be one of their best yet.
“Lanterns on the Lagoon promises to be a fabulous day out, filled with exciting art displays, entertainment, stalls and food to experience,” she said.
They are looking for submissions of artwork and sculpture using recycled, repurposed or natural materials suitable to be displayed outdoors. There is prize money to be won, in the categories: Open Entry, $2,000; People’s Choice, $250; Ages 13-16, $350; Ages 12 and under, $150.
Submit entries by September 15 by jumping onto their website www.lanternsonthelagoon.com.au or by phoning Pamela Oppelt on 0427 462 247.
“You still have time, so get the creative juices flowing and be part of this unique local event and in the running to take home a share of this fantastic prize money,” she said.
In the meantime, the finishing touches are being put together for attendees as well as artists, with musicians and food vendors being booked in.
“Not only will there be fantastic artwork to see and experience but you will also be entertained throughout the day/night with live music and other exciting performances (to be announced) all while enjoying the variety of the delicious food available,” she said.
“This event truly has something for everyone!
“On the day, we invite everyone to come along and decorate a milk bottle lantern and set them off floating on the lagoon as the sun begins to set, indeed a spectacular sight.
“The Lanterns on the Lagoon Committee look forward to seeing you at Rotary Pioneer Park on Saturday September 23!”
