A report is being prepared for the information of the Coroner about the death of a motorcyclist at Tumut yesterday.

 

Emergency services were called to Elm Drive, near the Tumut Racecourse, about 6.15pm following a collision between a motorcycle and a Commodore sedan.

 

It’s believed the motorcycle was being ridden west, while the car was being driven east when the crash occurred in the eastbound lane.

 

A 20-year-old man riding the bike was thrown on impact.

 

Police rendered first aid to the man until Paramedics arrived; however, he died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

 

A 17-year-old youth, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Tumut Hospital with minor injuries.

 

The 19-year-old man driving the car was also taken to Tumut Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

 

He was interviewed by police from Cootamundra Local Area Command and has been released without charge pending further inquiries.
