Unforgettable wedding

Tumut locals Josh Smith and Kiarna Preston were married on live TV Friday morning.

Residents turned out across town to watch the beautiful Sunrise wedding.

Viewers were delighted with surprise guest Jessica Mauboy’s rendition of ‘Photograph,’ as Kiarna walked down the aisle, after being flown in with her father in a helicopter.

Sunrise hosts David Koch and Samantha Armytage were on hand as the happy couple said their vows, standing on a sheer glass surface that made at look as they were standing on the turquoise ocean waters.

Josh fought back tears as he saw Kiarna for the first time in her wedding dress, and it’s safe to say a few folks back home got a bit choked up as well.

Tumut Pharmacy hosted a viewing party for their employee’s big day, with producers from Sunrise coming down from Sydney to film the occasion.

The famous Sunrise Cash Cow even made an appearance, standing behind Kiarna’s co-worker Emma Peacock as she congratulated the pair in a live cross.

Meanwhile, Pie in the Sky bakery, where Josh’s mum Debbie works, started the day with champagne, cake, and a fruit platter as they watched the luxury wedding.

Staff and customers gathered around the TV as Josh and Kiarna read the vows they had written.

“I can’t believe how lucky I am to be standing here today,” Josh said.

“You are not only my soul mate but my best friend, and I know I can tell you anything. After everything we have been through, we have come out the other side stronger and closer together. When I first met you, it was a feeling like I’ve never had before, and a feeling that I want to hold onto forever.

“I can’t imagine my life without you. You are the most beautiful, caring, and friendly person I know. I am so grateful for everything that you do for me, and I can not wait to be able to call you my wife.

“Although these are only words, I want to give you everything you deserve in life. If I could give you the world, I would. I love you with all of my heart, and I hope our future together will only bring us more love and happiness. I love you.”

Kiarna spoke of her certainty that Josh was the one, even from the first day they met at Tumut’s Oriental Hotel.

“From the very first moment we met I knew there was something special about you,” she said.

“I knew you were different from the rest, and I knew I was going to marry you. I am so thankful that our paths crossed, and that you walked into my life. You truly are everything I look for in a life partner, and more.

“You are the most genuine, kind-hearted, and loyal man I know. You always make me feel so loved and safe when I’m with you. We’ve been through so much together already, and you’ve stuck by my side through it all. You really are my rock, and have proved to me over and over again what a strong, supportive, and sweet man you are.

“My love for you is so powerful, and never-ending. I hope that I can give you everything you look for in a wife. I’m so excited to continue our journey together. You really are my everything. I love you, Josh.”

Celebrity celebrant Greg Evans then pronounced them man and wife.

The stunning wedding was the result of Josh and Kiarna winning Sunrise’s ‘Marry in the Morning’ prize.

This included a full wedding and reception package as well as a three night honeymoon on Hayman Island, with flights for the bride and groom plus eight guests, luxury yacht transfer from the airport, hair and makeup, a photographer, suites for the guests, a 3-course reception for 20 people, a personalised butler, a private helicopter tour, and a beach villa.

Kiarna said the destination wedding held a special significance for her, as her mother, who has sadly passed away, had loved the ocean.

“Mum always loved the ocean and loved being by the sea. She often said she was so excited about me getting married one day and she would love for me to have a tropical wedding,” she said.

“She’d love this,” Josh agreed.

The Marry in the Morning segment ended with Josh helping Kiarna into a helicopter, before they took off for their Whitsundays honeymoon.
