Two Tumut men have been ordered to appear in court after being caught allegedly in possession of cannabis on Wednesday.
Police said that at about 4pm on Wednesday March 27, officers from the Region Enforcement Squad (RES) from Southern Region were performing duties around Tumut when they stopped a white Toyota Landcruiser on Tumut Plains Road for a breath test.
Based on observations made by police, a search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located a large amount of cannabis hidden in 2 x 20 litre water storage containers and a number of re-sealable plastic bags weight of 7kgs.
Police attended a residence in Sydney Street, Tumut with one of the men, where another amount of cannabis was located in the yard with a weight of over 1kg. (Total weight of over 8.5kg.)
Two Tumut males aged 50 and 49 were arrested at the scene and conveyed to Tumut Police Station, where they were charged with various drug and possession offences to appear at Tumut Local Court on May 13.
