Boat fire burns three at Blowering

The boat was destroyed by fire at Log’s Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Three people were burnt when a boat was engulfed in flames at Blowering Dam on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the Log’s Bridge boat ramp just before 2pm to attend to the three injured people, believed to be from the Wagga area.

The Toll rescue helicopter was called in, landing on the foreshore nearby.

Paramedics treated the three at the scene.

A woman sustained burns to her face, chest, arms and legs, while a male had burns to his face and chest.

Another woman, 26, who was situated at the rear of the boat at the time of the blaze, sustained minor burns.

Paramedics treat burn victims on the shores of Blowering.

Given the distance between the injured trio and the chopper, a decision was made to transport the burnt victims to Tumut Hospital by ambulance.

Two people were subsequently flown to Concord Hospital for further treatment.

A third remained at Tumut Hospital, and was discharged on Sunday.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing. Witnesses said the fire broke out as the occupants of the boat were attempting to start the motor.
