Tumut’s own celebrity couple Josh Smith and Kiarna Preston will be getting married on live TV Friday morning, and it’s safe to say people are getting excited.
The wedding will take place on Channel Seven’s Sunrise program at 8am, as part of their ‘Marry in the Morning’ segment.
St Vincent de Paul op shop off Russell St have set up a Josh and Kiarna themed display in their window, complete with two mannikins, a wedding dress, a suit, and a vase of beautiful red flowers.
Tania Buckley, who set up the display, said Kiarna’s grandfather is a regular Vinnies customer.
“Her grandad comes in here every day,” she said. “I haven’t seen him today though, maybe he went over there [to the wedding] with them!”
Meanwhile, Pie in the Sky Bakery has a festive display in their window, and are planning on watching the wedding on Friday morning with champagne and nibblies in store.
Josh’s mum Debbie works at the bakery, and all the staff are getting behind the couple to watch them get married on Queensland’s Hayman Island.
A block down the street Tumut Pharmacy is also hosting a viewing party, with $5 egg and bacon rolls and a tea or coffee. The proceeds will go towards regional NSW cancer charity Can Assist.
They’ve decorated their windows with an assortment of happy photos of Kiarna and Josh – and there’s a few to choose from, considering the couple have been together for over seven years.
When not getting married in front of nearly a million people Kiarna works at the pharmacy, and if she stopped by her workplace today she’d be able to see a countdown to her wedding day in the front of the store.
Advertising and Marketing Manager for Tumut Pharmacy Emma Peacock said she can’t wait to see someone as lovely as Kiarna enjoy an $100, 000 wedding package.
“I’ve known Kiarna for a really long time, we’ve known each other since we were kids. It’s really good to see her getting something like this, she really deserves it,” she said.
“We’re having a barbecue [on the Friday], and all the money is going to the local Can Assist branch. All of the eggs and bread and meat and everything has been donated by local businesses, and we’ve also got a big TV coming from Tumut Valley Appliances so we can watch them on the big screen.
“Sunrise is going to be doing a live cross, which is very exciting! We told them we’re all going to dress up, so hopefully no one chickens out.”
Across the road from the pharmacy, the Royal Hotel’s “congratulations #Josharna” banner has been hanging from their balcony for weeks.
Josh and Kiarna were the winners of the Marry in the Morning wedding package on Sunrise, with their luxury wedding airing on Friday October 21 at 8am.
