The Golden Treasures op shop, a much-loved Adelong institution, has moved to a new location.

It’s popped right next door, to the former Better Electrical shop. The former location had some flooring issues, so when the new venue became available after Better Electrical closed down, the op shop ladies jumped at the opportunity for a better space.

Volunteer Bev Dwyer said the store, which is completely volunteer-run, provides an important function in the community.

“Its aim is to provide funding for groups and things in Adelong that may need support,” she explained.

“It’s popular with locals and visitors alike, who never cease to be amazed at the variety and quality of goods for sale. Travellers and caravanners passing through often liken it to a treasure trove, particularly selecting books and DVDs.”

The store is open Wednesday to Saturday, and sells clothes from baby clothes to formal dresses, suits and jumpers, linen, crockery, cushions, and kitchen items. Money raised is spent on community projects, and to help those in need in the Adelong area.

“You name it, it’s here, and all in good order,” said Bev.

“Currently work wear is plentiful, and also reduced.

“For a few dollars you can find everything you may need to clothe yourself, your children, or to set up a home.

“A big thank you to the hard workers who undertook the enormous task of relocating everything and setting up the new shop.”
